What photos usually carry

Camera make and model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, the exact date and time, the editing software used, and on phones, GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres. All of it travels with the file when you send it to someone.

What metadata is in your images

Photos from phones and cameras carry EXIF: the make and model, lens, exposure settings, the date and often precise GPS coordinates. Editing software adds its own tags, and cameras can embed a copyright and artist name.

This all travels with the file when you share it. The metadata remover re-encodes the image through a canvas, which drops every embedded tag.

Common questions

Yes. Any canvas re-encode — including compressing or resizing here — produces a file with no EXIF at all, unless you explicitly ask to keep it for JPEG output.
